An experience at Art Gallery of NSW

At the Art Gallery of NSW, the Papered Room created a sensory and tactile experience, providing opportunity for self-expression through artistic engagement with the natural world.

Collaborating with Kate Swinson, attendees created their own decorative artworks using Papered Room botanical and celestial inspired stamps featuring native Australian flora and fauna, along with biros and pencil, and foraged plants and flowers, to create intricate designs inspired by the opulent art of Alphonse Mucha.

Who was Alphonse Mucha ?

Mucha was a Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist best known for his decorative stye. In seductive, sinuous compositions, he developed a new language that defined the look of late 19th-century Paris to be the very spirit of art nouveau. Exhibitions at NSW Art Gallery reveal Mucha’s powerful influence, inspiring the Papered Room’s workshops.
